Quería compartir este vídeo. Como filólogo ('Filología: ciencia que estudia una cultura tal como se manifiesta en su lengua y en su literatura, principalmente a través de los textos escritos' –definición de la RAE) me apasionan las palabras: admiro y temo su poder, disfruto sus matices, en tres idiomas además —no lo digo para alardear, sino para expresar el grado de mi entusiasmo.
Por mucho que se diga que "Una imagen vale por mil palabras", no olvidemos que pensamos y nos entendemos con y por las palabras, no las imágenes.
Por eso cada día que pasa y me hago mayor, mido más mi palabras (ahora entiendo por qué mi padre hablaba tan poco, pero tan acertadamente). A ver si es verdad que, a través de las palabras podemos, de veras, cambiar el mundo.
(I just want to share this video. As a philologist ('philology: the study of human speech especially as the vehicle of literature and as a field of study that sheds light on cultural history' -Merriam-Webster definition) I have a passion for words, I admire and fear their power, I enjoy their nuances, in three languages –I do not intend to brag, but just to express the extent of my enthusiasm. Although it is said that "A picture is worth a thousand words", we must not forget that we think and we communicate with and thanks to words, not images.
So, as I grow older, I measure my words more and more (I understand now why my father talked so little, but so soundly). Let's see if it is true that through words we can really change the world.)
